ENCOREplus®
A YWCA of the U.S.A. women's health initiative designed to reduce mortality
from breast cancer through early detection education and screening.

ENCOREplus® is the premier community based breast cancer early detection education and screening program in the Greater Triangle area of North Carolina. The local program focuses outreach efforts on low-resource, medically underserved women ages forty and over who face barriers to adequate health care. The program educates women on the three keys to breast cancer early detection. Additionally, the program offers free mammograms and clinical breast exams provided by trained medical practitioners to women ages 40 and over:

  • without health insurance or with annual deductible of more than $200
  • with an annual household income of less than $30,000
The ENCOREplus® program
  • Educates approximately 5,500 underserved and uninsured women in the Greater Triangle area annually.
  • Screens 675 women annually for breast cancer in Wake and Johnston counties.
  • Saves lives - since the program's inception in 1994, saved 63 women's lives.
